A good amount of the health and fitness industry is all about fast, quick results.
Before and after pics, motivating quotes, people in hot pants (male and female!) and 'I've got the next best
secret for fat loss' adverts can often have the opposite effect and be demotivating.
A way to counteract this is you need to is to remember that all the people in these pics are just further along their journey than you are. Their priorities are just different to ours at the moment...and I guarantee they don't walk around this lean and buff all year round!
For
anything to work for you as an individual it needs to fit with your lifestyle, preferences, and above all not be causing negative stress..it should make you happy!
Being happy where you are and not holding yourself to ransom if you slip a bit is more important than pushing yourself too hard or feeling guilty because you didn't hit the gym tonight. To err is human.
Make it all too complex and put too much pressure on yourself and this will in itself produce an excuse to quit.
You need to go at your own pace and have fun. Push too hard and you could find an excuse to stop at best, or end up injured or over-trained at worst.
Just be happy for who you are and where you
are right NOW.
Focus on being better by 1% a day in any aspect of your life and celebrate every little step onwards and upwards.
The more successes you have the more momentum you will build. Remember you are in this for the long game so work hard and enjoy every
step.
Be happy that every little good decision and step upwards is the exactly the right thing for you right now!
