Lists!
Everyone loves them.
However, when it comes to health and fitness a real effective list would have more realistically over 1000 steps in it and be constantly evolving.
There is also an interesting behavioural piece in here too.
When
studies of online habits are analysed the those that click on the '5 steps' or '5 things you should..' links are LESS likely to stay the course on a program.
Those LESS likely to click on the above are MORE likely to stay the course of a program as they are looking to immerse themselves fully in the process and change behaviour for life. They know there are
no short cuts.
Now, of course deconstructing the habits of successful people or looking for the enablers and minimum effective dose of a process is absolutely effective.
BUT, the question is are people looking for the effective ACTIONS to take to change behaviour for the
better OR are they looking for that quick fix?
The answer would be most of us do both, many times in our life!
When it comes to health, however, there is DEFINITELY no short cut.
Some programs have a better efficacy than others.
Some people respond to certain protocols and not others, where others have great success.
At the crux of all this is a balance we need to reach.
We need to find the minimal effective dose that works for us...then follow on this course with consistency and dedication.
Make it simpler.....but no simpler!
Find the actions and behaviours that work for you and, most importantly of all, you can follow for the rest of your life.
It isn't about short cuts, that never ends well.
It
is showing up and doing the HARD work, day after day.

If you find yourself getting totally absorbed in a well written article on effective training and making your
OWN lists then you are well on target!
