Working for treats, stickers, cheat days and 'something 'nice' as I've been been 'good' is all well and good if it's in the right context, and something positive or healthy for us of course.
However, are we missing the REAL rewards?
- Moving smoother through your day as you suddenly notice that the shoulder pain that you've had for years has disappeared after a few weeks of strength training.
- Noticing that you've had a whole week without a drop of alcohol as a nightly habit of a glass or two of wine has been replaced with a family
walk
- You get the 'whatever you are doing..keep doing it!' speech from your Doctor when your blood pressure drops to normal
- Your bones strengthen from the extra loads placed on them from adding in some bodyweight exercises so that that ankle is merely sprained instead of broken after you tripped up
And all the time your focus on your
belly fat was overshadowing the really great rewards your amazing body is serving up on a weekly basis!
Try to position the adaptations your body makes after every work out as the ultimate reward!
Be mindful of every step forward and celebrate them like you've just won the gold medal..as far as your biology goes, that's exactly what you
have done..
