We all need to get rid of the sh...oulds!

Happy Sunday!

As you read this I will be getting ready to coach about 30 kids, aged 18mth to 7 years, rugby skills.

I'd been saying for a couple of years since we moved out here that I SHOULD get more involved locally and I SHOULD do something different out of my PT comfy zone.

I quit this SHOULD... and threw myself into this a couple of years ago, and thinking back to my first few weeks I was terrified. 

Standing in front of a group of adults at a boot camp..or on stage in front of 250 strong sales force (as I do in my day job) is nothing compared to a gang of toddlers..and parents!

There is no doubt that I have got heaps out of it, however that is hands down beaten by how quickly these little kids grow in confidence over the weeks. These little ones have far less SHOULD's than we have...and those they do they burn though rapid fire.

We had to prise one lil lad out of his pushchair one week..30 min later he was charging about with his new buddies.

Kids brains are undoubtedly primed to learn, develop and process new things at an astounding rate. However, why do we sometimes let ourselves slow down as we get old?

Or...do we need to slow down?

When I start working with a new client there is a moment a few weeks in where they first achieve something well above why they thought they SHOULD do.
However small the progress, the surprise, pride and authentic excitement on their face is wonderful to witness. 

Try saying yes to a new challenge today..when we REALLY think about it, how many SHOULD's do we have ....and wouldn't less be better?
