First they wake up their body....
......THEN they wake up their heart.
I love this, and I feel I do it as often as I can, most days.
Sometimes it takes me half the day to realise why I'm a bit
off centre..and I believe this is the reason. I didn't get myself in tune with my, mission, heart, focus, mood and those around me.
Waking up our heart, to me, includes:
- Gratitude
- Physical
Movement
- Meditation/ me time
- Relationship building
- Authenticity
- Time in nature
How can we care for those around us when we don't
take time to ourselves?
Personally I really struggle with this sometimes.
When I tot it all up I look after/ work with at least 120 people a week across my day job as a Sales Manager, in the fitness business, as a father, friend, husband and so on.
I struggle when that phone goes off or an email pings in and I'm doing trying to have that time to myself....I have to work really hard not to jump to attention.
Clients that run businesses, look after 2/3/4 kids, manage a health issue or injury or even ALL of this at one time all, clearly struggle with this
too.
Trying to be a hero and launch ourselves into the battle of the day as we fight to improve the lives of everyone around us WITHOUT taking time to get in touch with ourselves has a pretty short shelf life..
Of course a holiday is a good time to unplug from the
maelstrom of life, however couldn't this time come a bit too late sometimes?
What use are we if we collapse in the seat on the airplane a stressed out nervous wreck that needs the first few days to finally unplug?
That break may be just too late...
We all have those things we have to do in the morning ritual as we wake up
.....so how
about we challenge ourselves to add in a 10 to 30 minute slot to just get in touch with ourselves?
Anyone else notice how our kids instinctively have this time slot built into their morning routine? Like me, do you notice the fallout if you interrupt this as we whisk them off to school?
Give yourselves some space, get the mission for the day positioned right and, above all, breathe!
You are all doing well! Take that 10 minutes to get out of your own way and appreciate this.
