Why is this?
Being totally honest with ourselves in the planning stage is a major factor in our success.
Beginning with the end in mind with clear targets and benchmarks that are REALISTIC and tailored to your situation creates a environment of success.
Or, a phrase I heard recently, brutal objectivity
We can be our own worst enemy when it comes to being objective, it is exactly why having a coach or mentor magnifies our
results tenfold due to that continuous accountability.
During initial consultations a question I look for the answer to is..
'How much do you really want this?'
How much of the flat tummy, defined arms and so on
are simply a 'nice to have' rather than a 'need to have'?
How much fire is in you to make this change, bypass all those excuses that hold you back daily and be brutally honest and objective with yourself?
If you simply just want to have a bit more energy but still enjoy the good
life, then that is great...just adjust your goals to suit, thus removing any guilt because you got to where you realistic wanted to be.
At the other end, having lofty fitness goals outside of the mental bandwidth, time available, age or injury history leads to far too many missed targets that are nothing short of exhausting and derail the next effort.
So, take
time to be brutally objective.
Remove the layers of emotion and ask yourself:
- Where am I NOW and how much drive do I have to change?
- How much do I want to change?
- What do I want to change and by when...be
specific
- Am I fired up enough?
If it is anything short of a 'HELL YES!' to the last question, scale back a bit until it is.
Repeat this process as you 'success bank' grows and you realise that the changes you are making are REAL and you feel that pride in doing so.
Get angry, obsessed, fired up and ready to push harder when you show up to do the work, day after day.
This drive will impact ALL areas of your life, take it from someone that has been at both ends of the 'health spectum' that it does get easier to reach that next goal.
Energy gained from becoming fitter+energy
gained from wanting it enough= more energy...and so on!
