'Lifting or moving with a weak torso is like driving a car with flat
tyres'
Every movement needs a strong base.
A powerful engine must have a strong foundation to create torque on.
You can do all the chest pressing you want...but
without the stiffness and control in your abs, TVA, obliques, diaphragm etc and knowing the importance of breath control..you will never reach your peak strength.
A strong core also protects that delicate lower spine.
As much as you can today, try to keep your core tight and
engaged:
- - imagine creating a page pressurised cube of air in your belly
- - pull pelvic floor up from the bottom, obliques/ TVA etc in from the sides
- - diaphragm down from the top, focus on how this moves as you breathe and increases the
pressure
Also, every time to have a sore lower back, stand up and try this. The pressure created can seem to reduce the pressure on the spine, you will feel the difference after.
